    I bought two of these winter of 2019/2020 when our heat unit went out. We used them then and are using them again this winter. For our 1800 sq ft home we have to use one additional heater to warm the whole house, so I think 3 of these heaters would have been perfect, but I have been overly pleased with them so far. They do give off a very slight burn smell each time I turn it off, but that is normal so don’t worry.

    They are immediately hot when turning on, and the high is high and the low is low. Economy is good for a continuous heat. It does turn to low after hitting 75 degrees, but in a large area that works great! In a small room I would suggest keeping it on low so it doesn’t get too hot.

    Yes, the machine does get hot to the touch….in the front where the heat comes out…but I can unplug and move to another room by holding it on the sides.

    Unfortunately, as soon as the return date has gone by, it starts to short out. It will run for 3-5 minutes then it kills the power strip it’s plugged into. When I turn it back on, it just repeats. So it’s really useless and it’s to late to return it.

    This a plain bad heater. If you want a small room heated more than the rest of the house and put this in it, the heater will heat the room. It will over heat it (not to an unsafe degree) and then shut itself down. It must be unplugged to reset it. It can be set to two levels of heat output. Both ended in shut down. The thermostat it has is not controllable at all. It only exists to shut itself down at a predetermined, uncontrollable temperature for safety. It is small and useful if and only if you are available to turn it off before it gets the area hot enough to to shut itself down or is in an area large enough not to get hot enough to reach that point.

    I needed a space heater for our bedroom for the winter because neither the heat from our geothermal system or our fireplace radiates into that room very well. This heater is reasonably priced, attractive, and has simple, well-located controls. It heats well for a unit of its size. However, I will probably buy another so the wife and I can have one on each side of our rather large bedroom.

    I picked up a different/larger lasko prior, which was more money, but i got rid of it because the powercord got overheated at the outlet. not burn/fire, but enough to not want to leave it on too long. this little guy is perfect. a little workhorse. perfect for my cold mornings at home office. nobody has complained about volume during calls. the volume is the same hi/low. i suppose easy to tip over, but i don’t rough-house around the office or play hockey in there…so i think it will manage to stay upright just fine.

    Even on low, this puts out too much heat. I wish the low setting was medium… And there was a setting that put out a little less than the current low setting. It’d be perfect if that was the case.

    Bought the exact model I originally bought about 3 years ago, and performs just as well! Push button “digital” style buttons instead of the old crank and turn style ones on the original. Was not expecting how much “off gassing” this heater has. Perhaps I forgotten about it when I bought the original, but something to keep in mind if you are sensitive to smells, like I am. I will be back if I need to purchase a 3rd one, but 2 units do just great in a little over 1,000 sq ft space. Very happy with my purchase!

    A few years ago, we bought one of these to help us save on our energy bill. We ran the heater on low setting for our work room and kept the furnace off. On low setting, the heater will easily warm up a room 10×12 feet. No problem.

    When our furnace broke down right before this year’s winter, we weren’t able to fix it because the pandemic had hit our wallet really hard. We decided to buy a 2nd heater (of this model) and used both of them to make it through the winter. Not going to lie, when the local temperature dropped to -7 F (-21 C), the heaters had a very hard time keeping up. (Our house is about 800 square feet). But overall their performance was impressive. We also learned that our increase in the electricity bill (these heaters are electric) was offset by the drop in our gas bill.

    Sorry for the long story. What I am trying to say, is that this is a great product!

    omg,.. this thing off gasses something terrible! I turned it on and three minutes later all i could smell was this noxious VOC smell – plasticy gross odor that made me gag. I thought .. well , it’s just like a new iron .. let it run a few times on high and the manufacturing residue will eventually burn off. Well, For past 2 days I’ve had this out on my sunporch running for hours with the windows open and it still smells dreadful. Also, as another concern.. I cannot believe this thing doesn’t have a tip over turn off technology! This is definitely going to be a return item – and I’m going to get a new Honeywell like my old one.
    If you chemical sensitivities – STAY AWAY from this device..what good is it if you can barely breathe around it even with the windows wide open ??!!

    Little heater puts out a lot of heat. I use in my bathroom and bedroom on very cold days and it works very well. If I leave it on too long the room gets too warm. I like the safety features, because it is small, occasionally my large puppy knocks it over and it turns right off.

    This is a very quiet and small shooter but wow does it keep up the room I have quick. The room I am talking about has a little bit of a draft with the windows and is around 32×16 Ft quite the large room to heat with a little heater and I think that it’s oscillation feature helps with that. Of course it’s easy to install since it’s a heater you literally just plug it in and it seems like it has good safety features too because it wouldn’t turn on when it was a little bit offset like about to fall.

    This works well, and exactly as decribed EXCEPT that the description says it does not turn completely off at 75 degrees but just switches to low. What it actually does is turn off the element, but keeps the fan going to utilize that last bit of residual heat, then 20-30 seconds later it DOES turn off, COMPLETELY, and it turns itself back on when the temperature drops a few degrees to raise it back up to 75. I find this very useful so I can go to bed without worrying too much about overheating. This is an older version, might not even be sold anymore, but I assume whoever is selling these is making the same mistake on it’s replacements. Great heater. I bought one for my daughter as well, next generation of same. Databyter

    I have bought other Lasko heaters in the past and they have been fine, however, these give off an electrical odor that does not seem to be going away. Unfortunately, we were out of the country for three weeks before I even thought about putting them (bought two) to use. so the return window has passed. I have only opened and used one so I cannot speak to the other one, however, I probably will not open it because of the performance of the first. I am unlikely to purchase another Lasko product. It would be nice if the company reached out and offered a return on this product – I do not think the odor that is being produced is safe! Also, unlike other models, these STAY ON until the thermostat detects 75 degrees. Who needs that much heat?

    I purchased this heater from another retailer and have begun to use it. I like the profile. It’s slim and it is enough for the room I put it in. This time it came with the proper box, manual etc. I will be buying another one as soon as I get my refund back from Amazon for the faulty Lasko 5309 with hot wires.
